At the Carolina Outreach Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) in Durham, individuals can receive rapid access to psychiatric and mental health services. We provide services to both children and adults, assist with getting prescription refills, and help prevent unnecessary visits to the hospital or emergency department.

Referrals:
BHUC services are designed to meet the needs of adults and children, ages 4+.
We see individuals who:

Are experiencing a behavioral health crisis that can be resolved through brief intervention OR
-
Have an urgent behavioral health need that must be met in order to prevent a crisis OR
-
May be currently engaged with a service provider, but the provider is not immediately available, or they may need to initiate or re-engage in behavioral health services
Individuals who are medically compromised, are acutely intoxicated, need detox, or are at high risk of violence would be better served by a hospital emergency department or Durham Recovery Response Center.
Insurance:
We currently accept the following insurances: Alliance Medicaid, Vaya Medicaid, United Health Care Medicaid, Wellcare Medicaid, Amerihealth Medicaid, and Carolina Complete Health Medicaid. We can also see individuals who are uninsured and meet certain income criteria. Those with private insurance can pay an out-of-pocket fee to access our services.
